After a successful corporate career as a technology executive in the Life Sciences Industry, Martinez took a leap of faith in 2006 to launch an industry cloud technology company. Martinez served as CEO and lead this startup company to a successful exit. In the years following his exit, Martinez devoted his time and capital to helping level-up early-stage companies and the emerging start up community in Arizona. He launched MRTNZ Ventures for his investments, engaged as the chairman of Invest Southwest leading its annual Venture Madness Conference, co-founded StartupAZ, instigated the creation of YesPHX, and invested as an LP in several venture funds.
Martinez II was named the 2012 PharmaVOICE 100; an annual list published each year by PharmaVOICE Magazine that recognizes the 100 most inspiring people in the Life Sciences industry. Martinez’s commitment to the industry reaches both locally and globally. In March 2012, he was appointed to the AZBio Board of Directors, where he helped guide strategic direction of the non-profit and advance their goal to promote the growth of Arizona’s Bioscience Industry. Martinez was also recently nominated to the Arizona Technology Council Board where he will help guide the organization in their support of local technology companies and their contributions to the advancement and health of the Arizona economy.
Today, Martinez focuses his time on supporting his portfolio and investing in high-growth category leaders ranging from private, public, and digital assets. When he is not focused on business, you can find Martinez enjoying time with his family and friends, driving fun cars at the limit on a racetrack, rallying across the country, and occasionally trying to find the fairway on a golf course.
